Pavel Kolgatin makes double debut at Rossini Opera Festival

This week, tenor Pavel Kolgatin makes his house and role debut at the revered Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, taking on the role of Ermanno in L’equivoco stravagante. Under the baton of Carlo Rizzi, the production by Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier also makes its debut and features an all-star cast of Rossini experts.

This closes a fantastic season for Pavel, who recently made his Teatro alla Scala debut as Brighella in Frederic Wake-Walker’s production of Ariadne auf Naxos under Franz Welser-Möst. Earlier in the season, he debuted at the Teatro di San Carlo in Così fan tutte under Riccardo Muti and director Chiara Muti, and sang Count Almaviva Il barbiere di Siviglia and Ariadne auf Naxos at the Wiener Staatsoper where he has been on a fest contract.

With no break in sight, Pavel heads straight to Tokyo after the performances to begin the 2019/20 season as Lensky Eugene Onegin at the New National Theatre. Following this, he reprises the role of Count Almaviva in Vienna, before returning to Tokyo to sing The Innocent Boris Godunov.

Premiering on 13 August at the Vitifrigo Arena, L’equivoco stravagante continues on 16, 18 and 22 August. For more information, please visit the Rossini Festival website.
