Peter Rose makes Bayreuth Festival debut

A huge toi toi toi to Peter Rose, who makes his debut at the Bayreuth Festival on Saturday 30 July as Daland in ‘Der fliegende Holländer’. The performances make a wonderful end to another hugely successful season for him, which included returns to Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam, Opéra de Paris in his definitive interpretation of Ochs in ‘Der Rosenkavalier’, and to Munich’s Bayerische Staatsoper and Berlin’s Deutsche Staatsoper as Daland.
Next season sees him bring the roles of the four villains in ‘Les Contes d’Hoffmann’ into his huge repertoire, in a new production at Semperoper Dresden (4 December – 7 January). The season also includes returns to Amsterdam and Munich as Osmin in ‘Die Entführung aus dem Serail’ (Amsterdam from 13 – 26 January, Munich from 24 – 31 March) and travels to the USA for concert performances of ‘Die Schöpfung’ with the Houston Symphony (29 September, with Toby Spence) and ‘Pelleas et Melisande’ with the Cleveland Orchestra (2 – 4 May, with Hanno Müller-Brachmann).

‘Der fliegende Holländer’ opens on 30 July 2016, with further performances on 3, 14, 18 and 26 August. Find out more on the festival’s website
