Programme announced for 2016 Mostly Mozart Festival

The programme for Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival – taking place from 22 July to 27 August 2016 – has been announced.
The Festival, celebrating its 50th year, will have a special focus on opera. In the opening concert, Music Director Louis Langrée will conduct the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra in ‘The Illuminated Heart: Selections from Mozart’s Operas’ with video art by Neita Jones. The cast will include Christopher Maltman who is making his debut at the festival. Louis Langrée will also conduct a staged concert of ‘Così fan tutte’ with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra who take up residency this summer, and starring Rod Gilfry as Don Alfonso.
Also under the baton of Louis Langrée, the Festival Orchestra will perform the New York premiere of George Benjamin’s 2007 arrangement of Bach’s Canon and Fugue (from the ‘Art of Fugue’).
Karina Canellakis will make her festival debut conducting a showcase of new concerto works including two world premieres and three US premieres.
Other Askonas Holt artists featured at the Festival this year include Emanuel Ax and Joelle Harvey (her festival debut). View the full programme of events on the Mostly Mozart Festival website
