Following a busy European season, this summer sees a string of important US debuts for Rafael Payare
. Having recently been appointed as Principal Conductor of the Castleton Festival, Rafael conducts Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette
in four performances which will be streamed live
. Rafael will also conduct the Castleton Festival orchestra in a performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 in memory of Lorin Maazel.
Rafael then makes his debut at the Aspen Festival where he conducts the orchestra in a programme of Liszt, De Falla and Berlioz’s monumental Symphonie Fantastique. This is then followed by his debut at the Ravinia Festival conducting the Chicago Symphony Orchestra featuring Pinchas Zukerman in a performance of the Bruch Violin Concerto.
Other US highlights next season include a return visit to the Cincinnati Symphony and his debut with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa.
