Tuesday evening sees Rebecca Evans make her Teatro Real Madrid debut as Alice Ford in Laurent Pelly’s new production of Falstaff, conducted by Daniele Rustioni. When she debuted in the role last season opposite Sir Bryn Terfel with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra under Vasily Petrenko, critics praised, “Evans, soaring gloriously” (The Guardian) and her “ideal expansive phrasing for Alice Ford’s mockery of her “shining star” over lecherous Falstaff – and her sense of fun was ideal for the merriest of wives” (The Arts Desk).
Other recent highlights in Rebecca’s schedule include the title role in Rodelinda for the English National Opera and Marschallin Der Rosenkavalier for the Welsh National Opera. Future seasons will see Rebecca return to both the Royal Opera House and Welsh National Opera.
Falstaff opens on 23 April, with further performances on 25, 28, 30 April and 2, 6, and 8 May. For more information, visit the Teatro Real website.
