Robin Ticciati and the SCO are embarking on an unusual Stravinsky project
This week sees the start of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s project Stravinsky: The Chamber Ballets. In some innovative programming, Principal Conductor Robin Ticciati has paired each of the three Stravinsky scores, i.e. Jeu de Cartes, Apollon musegete and Orpheus, with a Haydn symphony.
In this video interview with Svend Brown, Artistic Director of Glasgow Concert Halls, Ticciati discusses how he uses the strengths of the SCO when playing Haydn to explore the neoclassicism of the Stravinsky, and his enthusiasm for the works. The concerts this week feature Haydn Symphony no.83 (La Poule) and Jeu de Cartes. February brings The Miracle (no.96) paired with Apollon musegete and finally, in March, the Surprise Symphony (no.94) is performed alongside Orpheus.
