Robin Ticciati has renewed his Music Director contract with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester for another five years, taking the partnership through to 2027. Robin was appointed MD of the Berlin orchestra in 2015, with an initial five-year contract commencing from the 2017/18 season.
Commenting on the announcement, Robin said “It is the wonderful, logical step now for me to renew my special ties to this maverick band. Their thirst to evolve, to progress the model of what a radio orchestra actually can be, for Germany and the wider world, is a beautiful thing to be part of – I look forward to the years ahead.”
Anselm Rose, Managing Director of the Rundfunk Orchester, added: “With Ticciati’s engagement, the DSO will continue its successful, innovative artistic collaboration with its Music Director and will continue to ensure the musical level, strength and creative innovation for which all of ROC’s ensembles stand.”
The DSO was recently been nominated by Gramophone for the ‘Orchestra of the Year’ 2020 award on the basis of the outstanding reviews received for its recordings with Robin Ticciati – the most recent of which was described by the magazine as “utterly beguiling”.
In addition to his work in Berlin, Robin continues as Music Director at Glyndebourne Festival Opera. Guest conducting highlights for the coming season include returns to the Budapest Festival Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks.
