Roderick Cox makes his BBC Symphony Orchestra debut

This Saturday, Roderick Cox will make his debut performance with the BBC Symphony Orchestra in a concert celebrating Leonard Bernstein’s 100th Birthday. The programme will include Bernstein’s rarely performed Symphony No. 1 Jeremiah with mezzo-soprano Jessica Gillingwater, Copland’s Appalachian Spring and Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite among other works. As part of an extended visit to Europe, Roderick will also make his debut performance with the Madrid Excelentia Orchestra, conducting Tchaikovsky, Dvořák and Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor with fellow Askonas Holt pianist, Sunwook Kim. He will then travel to Belfast to make his debut with the Ulster Orchestra live on BBC Radio 3.

“…The finale tingled with an edgy energy, and Cox drove home the tumultuous final climax with an expert sense of theatricality and timing…” – Terry Blain, Minnesota Star Tribune
