Rosa Feola on her BBC Proms debut

Soprano Rosa Feola will make her BBC Proms debut this Friday. We asked her how she felt about her first appearance at the festival…

“I feel so honoured to be joining more than 120 years of English excellence and tradition. During this long period the Proms have demonstrated what music can be: something steadfast, and stronger than any barrier, a message that can create universal benefits. You can’t imagine how happy I am about this important debut!

This is the first time I sing with Le Cercle de l’Harmonie and Jérémie Rhorer, and I am looking forward to it as they are such great and passionate musicians. The music we are performing is so beautiful and special – I find that if you close your eyes, you really appreciate how wonderful the music by these fine composers is.

I’m sure singing these works in such a special setting will give me a terrific thrill!”

Rosa will perform Mozart and Mendelssohn arias with Le Cercle de l’Harmonie at Prom 9 on Friday 22 July. Tickets are available here and you will be able to listen live on BBC Radio 3 here
