Toi toi toi to Rosa Feola who returns to Opernhaus Zürich to perform in Rigoletto opening on Thursday 17 January. Under Maestro Gustavo Gimeno, Rosa reclaims her signature role of Gilda, having most recently performed it at the Bayerische Staatsoper and with Lyric Opera Chicago. She makes her Metropolitan Opera debut in the role in April.
This continues a close relationship between Opernhaus Zürich and Rosa, who first performed there in June 2013, also as Gilda. Since then, she has returned many times, performing as Léïla in Les Pecheurs de Perles, Corinna in Il viaggio à Reims, and next month returns to the role of Sandrina in Mozart’s La finta giardiniera.
Rosa has an exciting second-half to the season planned. After her Metropolitan Opera debut, she returns to the Bayerische Staatsoper for two Puccini productions: Il trittico as Lauretta under Maestro Bertrand de Billy; and as Musetta in La bohème under Giampaolo Bisanti and director Otto Schenk. She will also make her Salzburg Festival opera debut under Thomas Hengelbrock as Dircé in Cherubini’s Médée.
Next season sees her return to Teatro alla Scala, Opera di Roma, Opernhaus Zürich, and the Wiener Staatsoper and she will make her debut at the Hamburgische Staatsoper.
Rigoletto runs from 17 January to 9 February, with six performances; La finta giardiniera opens on 17 February and runs for 6 performances until the finale on 8 March 2019. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit the Opernhaus Zürich website.
