Saleem Ashkar debuts with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande

This week, Saleem Ashkar makes his debut with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, in four performances of Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 3 under fellow Askonas Holt artist David Afkham. Performances take place on Wednesday 1 and Thursday 2 May, in addition to family concerts on 3 and 4 May, with David conducting Shostakovich Symphony No. 7 in the second half of the concert.

Renowned for his interpretation of Beethoven’s piano music, Saleem has recently released the latest instalment of his complete Beethoven sonata cycle on Decca: Piano Sonatas Nos. 2, 10, 12, 13, 21, 24 and 31. This follows recordings of Nos. 6, 23 and 52 in 2018, and Nos. 3, 5, 14 “Moonlight” and 30 in 2017.

Recent and forthcoming concerto engagements include Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Orchestre National de Belgique, and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
