This week, mezzo-soprano Samantha Hankey will make her European debut at Den Norske Opera in Oslo as Rosina in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia. Manlio Benzi will conduct François de Carpentries’s production featuring Joshua Hopkins as Figaro, Levy Strauss Sekgapane as Count Almaviva, Luciano di Pasquale as Dr. Bartolo and Jens-Erik Aasbø as Don Basilio.
Following her performances with Den Norske Opera, Samantha will return to the United States to partake in a recording of David Hertzberg’s new commission The Rose Elf for the Philadelphia Opera and will appear as a soloist in Handel’s Messiah with Musica Sacra at Carnegie Hall. Further afield, Samantha will return to Europe to complete her run in Oslo and to make her role debut as Siébel in Faust at the Grand Théâtre de Genève.
Samantha will appear in Il barbiere di Siviglia on 12, 14, 27, 29 October and 3, 5 November in Oslo; 11, 13 and 15 November in Stavanger and once again in Oslo on 29, 31 December and 4, 10, 13 January. For further information or to purchase tickets, click here.
