Sarah Connolly ends her sensational 2013/14 season in the south of France, singing the title role in a new production of Handel’s Ariodante at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. Richard Jones directs and Andrea Marcon conducts the Freiburger Barock Orchester. Handel has loomed large for Sarah this season and she has sung the title role in Agrippina at the Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona and her first Irene in an international concert tour of Theodora with The English Concert and Harry Bicket. The composer has always been a regular feature of her schedule of course, and her Giulio Cesare, Ruggiero and Serse have been much lauded. Having sung Ariodante in London, Paris, New York, Vienna, Madrid, Amsterdam and even at the the palace of Versailles, Sarah’s performances this summer will doubtless be much anticipated. There are six performances on 03, 05, 10, 12, 16 and 18 July.
