This Sunday kicks off Simon Keenlyside’s 2017/18 season with a recital at the Palais Garnier accompanied by Malcolm Martineau. The programme features songs by Sibelius, Schubert, Vaughan Williams, Arthur Somervell, Peter Warlock, Percy Grainger and Poulenc. More details can be found on the Opéra national de Paris website.
Simon’s season highlights include returns to the Wiener Staatsoper as Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro and Golaud in Pelléas et Mélisande under Daniel Harding’s baton; to the Royal Opera House as Ford (Falstaff) and Tonio (Pagliacci); and title roles of Macbeth at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Rigoletto at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Don Giovanni in Grand Théâtre de Genève. On the concert platform, Simon will perform Thomas Adès’ Totentanz with the Czech Philharmonic and the Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin under the composer’s baton. In recital, he will appear in London, Paris, Vienna, Graz, Brussels and New York with Malcolm Martineau, and he will be joined by a small piece jazz band for his programme Blue Skies – Songlines to American Music at the Wiener Konzerthaus.
