Simon Rattle and Magdalena Kožená perform Debussy’s ‘Pelléas et Mélisande’

The press described Sir Simon Rattle’s Berlin Staatsoper Unter den Linden debut with Debussy’s ‘Pelléas et Mélisande’ in 2008 as a “moment of glory”. Rattle will now perform the impressionist masterpiece with its dark and mysterious dream images with the Berliner Philharmoniker this week (16, 17, 19 and 20 December 2015). With Magdalena Kožená in the title role, this performance is semi-staged by director Peter Sellars (continuing his relationship with both artists after staging Bach’s Passions).
The production will return in 2016 with performances at the Barbican, London in 9 and 10 January.
