This week, Stanislav Kochanovsky returns to conduct the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra on Friday 10 May and Saturday 11 May with Mussorgsky’s Night on a Bald Mountain, Chopin Piano Concerto No. 1 and excerpts from Prokofiev’s spectacular ballet score, Romeo and Juliet. He will be joined on stage by rising star pianist Yulianna Adveeva, who will be making her debut with the orchestra.
Stanislav’s return to Melbourne follows a number of recent triumphant debuts: an “electrifying” debut with the Philharmonia Orchestra in London, plus programmes showcasing all four Rachmaninov piano concerti with Orchestra de Paris (to where he will return in future seasons) with Denis Matsuev and Nikolai Lugansky. Further recent highlights include debuts with Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Hamburger Symphoniker, CBSO and Royal Stockholm Philharmonic in addition to returns to Rotterdam Philharmonic, Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Orchestre national de Belgique, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic and the National Philharmonic of Russia.
Looking ahead, Stanislav returns to Verbier Festival this summer for the third consecutive year to conduct Mozart’s Die zauberflöte in concert. Next season includes appearances with Dresden Philharmonic, Danish National Symphony, Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse and Gürzenich Orchestre Cologne.
