Stephan Zillias debuts with Zürcher Kammerorchester

Stephan Zilias will make his debut with the Zürcher Kammerorchester tonight conducting Tippett’s Fantasia Concertante on a Theme of Corelli in a programme exploring the art of Concerto grosso.

The late notice step-in follows Stephan’s inaugural weeks as Staatsoper Hannover’s new General Music Director, which included symphonic concerts pairing Beethoven and Ligeti with Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony, as well as a new chamber ensemble version of Bizet’s Carmen by Marius Felix Lange. The latter – commissioned at speed in response to the pandemic – can be viewed here.

In addition to projects in Hannover, the coming year sees Stephan debut with Berner Symphonieorchester in concerts with pianist Pierre Laurent-Aimard, and return to Deutsche Oper Berlin to conduct Wagner’s Rienzi.
