The pianist’s first recording has been released on Deutsche Grammophon
Congratulations to Sunwook Kim whose debut recording is released this week on Deutsche Grammophon.
Kim joined Myung-Whun Chung and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra for this live recording of Beethoven’s glorious ‘Emperor Concerto’, paired with his Symphony no. 5. Both works were recorded live in concert at the Seoul Arts Center in January, the most recent of several highly successful concert collaborations between these artists.
Highlights of Sunwook’s upcoming engagements include his debut at the BBC Proms with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Kirill Karabits performing Beethoven’s 3rd Piano Concerto and return visits to the Halle and Philharmonia Orchestras with Beethoven’s Fourth Concerto. He will complete his Beethoven Piano Sonata cycle at the LG Arts Center, Seoul and returns to the Piano 4 Etoiles series at Salle Pleyel in Paris.
Maestro Chung is currently on tour in Japan with the Teatro La Fenice with performances of Verdi’s Otello. In addition to his regular commitment to the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, this summer also sees him visiting festivals in St Denis and Aix-en-Provence with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.
