This week, Sylvia Schwartz makes both her role and company debuts as the feisty Fiorilla in Rossini’s sparkling acerbic comedy Il turco in Italia, at Bergen Nasjonale Opera. This new production by director/designer team Mark Lamos and George Souglides, assembles a cast of veteran Rossinians, conducted by Domingo Hindoyan, in performances at Bergen’s Grieghallen.
Sylvia’s Rossini performances continue as Amenaïde in an eagerly-anticipated performance of the rarely-heard Tancredi at the Festival d’Opéra Baroque in Beaune this July.
Continuing her recent success in Le nozze di Figaro, Sylvia returns with the Budapest Festival Orchestra and Iván Fischer this summer in Don Giovanni first to the Edinburgh International Festival and New York’s Lincoln Center, and then in Budapest. Maestro Fischer continues to both conduct and direct his acclaimed and daring personal visions of the Mozart/da Ponte masterpieces.
