Teatro Real Madrid House Debut for Stephen Costello in ‘Rigoletto’

Stephen Costello will make his House Debut as the Duke of Mantua in Verdi’s ‘Rigoletto’ at Teatro Real Madrid on Monday 30 November.

Stephen joins a stellar cast for David McVicar’s “sensational” production (The Guardian) conducted by Nicola Luisotti, including Olga Peretyatko as Gilda, opposite whom he has just completed a successful run of ‘Rigoletto’ at the Metropolitan Opera.

Stephen received much critical acclaim for his recent performances as the Duke:

“Stephen Costello, as the Duke, sang with a bright tenor that seemed coated in Teflon. Smooth, dependable but emotionally nonreactive, his voice was perfectly suited to a character who remains impervious to the suffering he causes.” (New York Times, 21 October 2015)

Rigoletto opens at Teatro Real Madrid on Monday 30 November, with further performances on 3, 6, 10, 15 and 19 December 2015. Find out more on the Teatro Real Madrid website.
