Simon Keenlyside concludes a triumphant season with two great Verdi roles at this year’s Munich Festival: Macbeth with Anna Netrebko as his Lady; and Giorgio Germont La traviata with Diana Damrau as his Violetta.     

Simon’s 2013/14 season has also seen him sing the title roles in Don Giovanni and Wozzeck at the Bavarian State Opera; at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden he has sung Wozzeck, Valentin Faust and Giorgio Germont; Giorgio Germont and Macbeth at the Deutsche Oper Berlin; and Giorgio Germont  and Count Almaviva at the Vienna State Opera.     An impressive concert season also saw his Forester in The Cunning Little Vixen with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle, Strauss lieder with the Cleveland Orchestra under Franz Welser-Möst and the Paris Opera Orchestra under Philippe Jordan; Duruflé Requiem with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Bayerischer Rundfunk under Robin Ticciati; as well as a gala concert with the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the Budapest Spring Festival.     

In recital, Simon performed with Malcolm Martineau at the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Luxembourg Philharmonie, and at the Barbican Centre in their celebrity recital series.   Simon has also recorded a disc of “show tunes” with the BBC Concert Orchestra under David Charles Abell to be released in November 2014 on Chandos Records.

Simon ends his 2013/14 season with the John Wilson Orchestra at the Grafenegg Festival and at the Edinburgh International Festival in recital with Malcolm Martineau at Queen’s Hall.

An amazing season!

Simon launches his 2014/15 with the title role in Rigoletto for the first time at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
