The Simón Bolívars in LA

Epic cross-continent Mahler Project

The Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela is in Los Angeles to take part in an extraordinary feat: performing all of Mahler’s completed symphonies (and more) with the Los Angeles Philharmonic led by Gustavo Dudamel.

The Mahler Project, which runs from January 13 – February 5  and is managed by Askonas Holt, will be repeated by both orchestras in Caracas, Venezuela, completing a remarkable international collaboration to honour the 100th anniversary of Mahler’s death.

For more information about the Mahler Project, see the Walt Disney Concert Hall website.

Christiane Stotijn sings with the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra  in Mahler 3 on 24 January 2012, 8:00pm, and Alexander Vinogradov in Mahler No. 8 “Symphony of a Thousand” on 4 February 2012, 8:00pm.
