The year begins on a high for Toby Spence

Busy season for Toby Spence

Congratulations to Toby Spence who has started the year on a high with a well received recital in Washington. (Full review in the Washington Post). The month continues with concerts of Das klagende Lied with the Accademia Santa Cecilia and Edward Gardner and a recording of The Beauty Stone for Chandos records, also featuring Rebecca Evans, Catherine Wyn-Rogers and Peter Rose
In addition to his exciting singing engagements, Toby has turned promoter and – with his brother Magnus – has this week launched an exciting recital series in Wardsbrook, East Sussex. The concerts take place in a beautifully converted Tudor barn in the heart of the Sussex Downs. The series in 2013 features four wonderful recitalists – Stéphane Degout, Sarah Connolly , Sir Thomas Allen and Christiane Karg along with the accompanists Malcolm Martineau and Joseph Middleton with all the proceeds of the events going to St. Michael’s Hospice in Hastings.
