Thomas Søndergård jumps in to make his Royal Concertgebouw debut

Thomas Søndergård and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra brought the wonderful colours of Spain to an autumnal Amsterdam last night with a challenging contemporary programme
Thomas jumped in at just three days’ notice to conduct the Andalusian-inspired repertoire and make his debut with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
Next month Thomas makes his debut with the London Philharmonic (8 October/Shostakovich Symphony No.5) at the Royal Festival Hall before opening the main season with BBCNOW in Cardiff, conducting Stravinsky’s ‘Firebird’ (13 October).
Thomas conducts a similar programme with the RCO again tonight, joined by flautist Kersten McCall.
Bravo, Thomas!
