Thomas Søndergård makes his Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin debut

Thomas Søndergård makes his debut with Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin this weekend, conducting two performances of an all-Prokofiev programme featuring the suite from his satirical opera The Love for Three Oranges, his Sinfonia Concertante and Symphony No.7.

They will first perform at the Philharmonie Berlin on Sunday 25 March, joined by cellist Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt.This concert will be broadcast on Deutschlandfunk Kultur at 8pm the same eveningThey then travel to Moscow, for a performance at the Moscow Conservatoire on Tuesday 27 March with cellist Pablo Ferrández, marking the opening of the 9th International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival.

In the remainder of this season, Thomas will make further debuts with SWR Symphonieorchester Baden-Baden, Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, and will return to London Philharmonic Orchestra and Rotterdam Philharmonic, where he conducts Stravinsky’s complete Firebird ballet.
