Thomas Zehetmair gives world premiere of Casken’s ‘Subtle Knot’

This week Thomas Zehetmair performs the world premiere of John Casken’s ‘Subtle Knot’, a double concerto for violin, viola and orchestra, which was co-commissioned by him, Ruth Killius and the Sage Gateshead for Royal Northern Sinfonia. Concerts are at the Sage Gateshead on 11 June (broadcast live on BBC Radio 3) and on 13 June at Milton Court, London. His programme also includes Mozart’s Don Giovanni Overture, Bartok’s Viola Concerto and Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. These will be Thomas’ final concerts as Music Director of the Royal Northern Sinfonia, a position he has held since 2002. Thomas is succeeded in the role of Music Director by  Lars Vogt, and will return to the orchestra on a regular basis as Conductor Laureate.
