Trevor Pinnock is in Ottawa next week for two performances of one of J S Bach’s greatest masterpieces, his Matthäus-Passion, at the National Arts Centre with the NAC Orchestra, Lydia Teuscher performing the soprano solo, Mauro Peter as the Evangelist, and Douglas Williams as Christus. Trevor is looking forward to conducting in Ottawa once again; he was the NAC Orchestra’s Music Director from 1991 to 1997 and more recently directed them in performances of Handel’s Messiah (Dec 2015).
Closer to home, Trevor directs another three performances of Matthäus-Passion working with students at London’s Royal Academy of Music for a performance on 3 February, and in April he makes his debut with Dunedin Consort for Easter performances of the same work in Aberdeen and Edinburgh.
The performances of Matthäus-Passion will take place on 16 and 17 January. For more information, visit the National Arts Centre website.
