Trevor Pinnock gives the first ever concert at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse

The Sam Wanamaker Playhouse opened its doors for its first concert last weekend with ‘Mozart in London’ as part of the ‘Pinnock’s Passions’ series. A host of musicians joined Trevor Pinnock for sold-out performances on 2nd and 3rd March including Carolyn Sampson, Kristian Bezuidenhout and Alina Ibragimova and the Chiaroscuro Quartet. The entirely candelit indoor theatre provided an exquisite setting in which to explore Mozart’s works.
Upcoming concerts for the ‘Pinnock’s Passions’ series include:
– ‘The Queene’s Command’ with Dame Emma Kirkby, Phantasm and Stuart Jackson in May
– ‘Handel’s Garden’ in July with Lucy Crowe
– ‘A Bach birthday’ in September with Emmanuel Pahud.

John Williams is also curating a series of concerts at the Playhouse in March, featuring Matthew Wadsworth, Tunde Jegede, Derek Gripper, Pavel Steidl and John Etheridge.
