Viktoria Mullova is an artist of great versatility and is equally at home playing Bach and Beethoven as she is playing contemporary and traditional folk music in projects including ‘Stradivarius in Rio’ and ‘The Peasant Girl’. Her latest creative collaboration is with her son; composer, jazz band leader and double bassist Misha Mullov-Abbado in a programme entitled ‘Music We Love’. Their programme includes original compositions by Misha, traditional songs from Brazil and Estonia alongside Bach, Prokofiev and Schumann. As Misha describes it; “an eclectic mix but we love it all!”
Viktoria has enjoyed a greatly successful 2018/19 season with highlights including performances with cellist Matthew Barley of Dusapin’s At swim – Two birds with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ludovic Morlot, and London Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada. Viktoria is currently the Artist in Residence at The Sage, Gateshead, appearing in recital, concerto and with her ‘Stradivarius in Rio’ programme.
