Vilde Frang begins German tour with City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra + New Release ‘Homage’

This week sees Vilde Frang’s highly anticipated return to Symphony Hall with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, performing Elgar’s Violin Concerto under the baton of Mirga Grazinyte-Tyle. Performing in Birmingham on Thursday 16 November, Vilde will then embark on a German tour with the CBSO, starting at the Konzerthaus Dortmund (19 November) and then on to the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg (25 November) and the Alte Oper Frankfurt (26 November).

After a busy start to the season, including performances at the Sion Festival, with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Basel Kammerorchester, this season also marks Vilde’s debuts with the Concertgebouw Orchestra under Trevor Pinnock, Los Angeles Philharmonic under Esa-Pekka Salonen, Pittsburgh Symphony under Osmo Vanska and Orchestra Mozart under Bernard Haitink. Vilde will also return to the Berlin Philharmonic this December for her subscription debut at the Berlin Philharmonie. Vilde also returns to the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Konzerthaus Orchester Berlin and the Philharmonia Orchestra at London’s Southbank Centre this December.

Following the huge success of her Korngold & Britten album last year, Vilde has been back in the recording studio with Jose Gallardo to record her brand new disc Homage, to be released this week by Warner Classics. The new disc, which Vilde offers as something of a homage to her predecessors, consists of a programme of short pieces for violin and piano. Having already received critical acclaim, with BBC Music Magazine saying that “Frang has the knack of breathing life into every note, whether by variations in phrasing, attack, tone or dynamic”, the disc is available from this Friday 17 November.
