Virginie Verrez makes her house & role debut at the Opéra de Paris

Mezzo-soprano Virginie Verrez will make her role and house debut this week as Flora Bervoix in La traviata at the Opéra de Paris. These performances will revive the much-loved Benoît Jacquot production, originally staged in 2014, with Dan Ettinger leading from the pit. Virginie joins a star-studded cast featuring Anna Netrebko and Marina Rebeka as the ill-fated courtesan Violetta opposite Rame Lahaj and Charles Catronovo in the role of Alfredo.

This production marks the continuation of a sensational season for Virginie which has seen her perform the role of Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte to critical acclaim at the Opéra de Lille and make a number of prestigious concert debuts with the Minnesota Orchestra, the Orchestre National de Lyon and the Orchestre Symphonique de Bretagne.

Further ahead, Virginie travels to the US for her company debut with the Dallas Opera as Zerlina in Don Giovanni, returns to Lyon for Haydn’s Nelson Mass, and makes her Glyndebourne debut in Keith Warner’s new production of Vanessa.

La traviata will play from 2 – 28 February at the Bastille. For further information or to buy tickets, see the Opéra de Paris website.
