Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts Joyce DiDonato & Adam Plachetka in La Clemenza di Tito concerts

This July sees Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe once again reunite in Baden-Baden for the next instalment in the Deutsche Grammophon series of Mozart’s late operas; La Clemenza di Tito.

Joining him for two concert performances, which will be recorded live on the 6 and 9 July at the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus, are fellow Askonas Holt opera stars Joyce DiDonato who will sing the role of Sesto and Adam Plachetka as Publio.

This comes at the end of an incredible season for Joyce that has seen her first Semiramide in Munich, her first Didon (Les Troyens) with John Nelson in Strasbourg (to be released on CD next season) and a 20-city tour across America and Europe launching her latest disc – In War & Peace. Joyce’s season comes to a close with performances of Semiramide at the Munich Festival on 21 and 24 July before finally returning to Greece to work with refugees at the Skaramagkas camp.

This project will close a triumphant season for Adam that has seen him perform at the Royal Opera House (Belcore L’Elisir d’Amore), Lyric Opera Chicago (Papageno Die Zauberflöte), Metropolitan Opera (Leporello Don Giovanni) and maintain his long-standing special relationship with the Vienna State Opera with performances as the Count in Le Nozze di Figaro.

Rolando Villazón, who has featured on all previous recordings returns alongside new additions Regula Mühlemann and Tara Erraught and the RIAS Kammerchor.

So far three operas have been recorded for the series: Così fan tutte, Die Entführung aus dem Serail and Le Nozze di Figaro, the latter two being nominated for Grammy Awards in 2016 and 2017.
