This Saturday 5 September, the audience at the Royal Albert Hall will witness an astounding feat – the six Bach cello suites performed in their entirety and without an interval by one of the world’s greatest cellists and musicians, Yo-Yo Ma.
Yo-Yo Ma spoke about this marathon performance to Stuart Jeffries
at The Guardian in July…
“It is highly unusual to do that. I think maybe I’ve done it three times in my life at most.” So why is he doing it? “I’m turning 60 in October and it’s a quirky birthday present to myself because these suites are so meaningful. They’re not only companions and friends, but they’ve also been reference points in my life.”

Tickets to this event are like gold dust, but a lucky few may still be able to purchase the remaining handful online at the BBC Proms
or Royal Albert Hall
It will certainly be a night to remember!
