The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra

The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra

Introduction

The Metropolitan Opera is a vibrant home for the most creative and talented singers, conductors, composers, musicians, stage directors, designers, visual artists, choreographers, and dancers from around the world. Having been founded in 1883 The Metropolitan Opera is now the largest classical music organisation in North America. Since 1992, the brilliant Met Orchestra has been moving from pit to stage, thrilling audiences with an annual series of concerts at Carnegie Hall.

In September 2018, Yannick Nézet-Séguin became the Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director of the Metropolitan Opera. He made his Met debut in the 2009–10 season, conducting a new production of Bizet’s Carmen. The Canadian conductor has returned to the Met in every subsequent season, leading performances of Wagner’s Parsifal and Der Fliegende Holländer, Strauss’s Elektra, Verdi’s Don Carlo, Gounod’s Faust, Verdi’s La Traviata, and Dvořák’s Rusalka.

Askonas Holt is proud to collaborate closely with the Orchestra on their international touring across the globe.
