Anita Hartig & Stephen Costello lead special concert performance of Faust in Moscow

Next week, opera stars Anita Hartig and Stephen Costello will lead a special concert performance of Gounod’s Faust at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow. Maestro Michael Güttler will conduct the Novaya Rossiya Symphony Orchestra with Luca Pisaroni, Konstantin Shushakov, Alexandra Kadurina, Margarita Kalinina and Daniil Chesnokov making up the remainder of the cast.

Fresh from a triumphant run of Marguerite at the Staatsoper Hamburg, Anita has enjoyed a stellar season. Highlights have included her return to the Metropolitan Opera for her role debut as a “heart-breaking, vocally ravishing” Antonia/Stella in Les contes d’Hoffmann and her eagerly-awaited Teatro Real Madrid debut as Mimi in La bohème. She will finish the 2017/18 season by bringing her famed portrayal of Mimi to Àlex Ollé’s production of La bohème in Rome. Next season, she will make her San Francisco Opera debut as Micaëla in Carmen, plus return to the Metropolitan Opera, Opéra National de Paris and Wiener Staatsoper.

American tenor Stephen Costello is enjoying an extraordinary season in some of the world’s best opera houses. Fresh from a run of playing the Duke in Rigoletto at Deutsche Oper Berlin, he has also portrayed the role this season at Dresden Semperoper and in Toronto with the Canadian Opera Company, with one reviewer calling him “the best American operatic tenor the world has right now”. In July, Stephen will make his eagerly-anticipated debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, as Fernand in La favorite.

This performance takes place on Tuesday 15 May; more information can be found here. Watch the concert live at
