Born in Moscow, internationally celebrated bass Alexander Vinogradov made his debut at the Bolshoi Theatre at the age of 21 as Oroveso in Norma.
He has worked with many leading conductors including Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Barenboim, Kent Nagano, Vladimir Jurowski, Lorin Maazel, Mariss Jansons, Zubin Mehta, Placido Domingo, Valery Gergiev, Philippe Jordan, Antonio Pappano, Semyon Bychkov, Yuri Temirkhanov, Vasily Petrenko, Dmitrij Kitajenko, Helmuth Rilling and Myung-Whun Chung.
This season, Alexander will return to the Metropolitan Opera, Staatsoper Hamburg, and Royal Opera House Covent Garden as Escamillo in Carmen, a role that he will also perform for his debut at the Dallas Opera. Alexander will also return to Los Angeles Opera as Philippo II in Don Carlo, and at The Bolshoi as the title role in Le nozze di Figaro.
Previous highlights include his company debuts at LA Opera and the Bayerische Staatsoper in Carmen, and the Metropolitan Opera for Lucia di Lammermoor and Luisa Miller as well as his debut at the BBC Proms in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9; Ivan the Terrible in concert with the Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin, The Golden Cockerel at the Teatro Real Madrid, Guillaume Tell and Macbeth at Staatsoper Hamburg, I vespri siciliani in Valencia, La bohème at Teatro Regio Torino and on tour to Savonlinna Opera Festival, Il Viaggio a Reims, Le nozze di Figaro, La Damnation de Faust and Carmen at The Bolshoi.
