Askonas Holt is delighted to announce the start of the Berliner Philharmoniker’s extensive Asian tour with Sir Simon Rattle, performing 10 concerts in 7 cities over the coming weeks (5-21 November).
Askonas Holt, and formerly Harold Holt, have organised the Berliner Philharmoniker’s tours to Asia since 1990. The first tour, to Japan, was with Claudio Abbado and soloists Alfred Brendel and Viktoria Mullova and included performances of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde; this was followed by a tour with Simon Rattle which included performances of Beethoven’s Fidelio.
The orchestra’s 2013 tour programmes include works by Pierre Boulez, Anton Bruckner, Robert Schumann, Sergei Prokofiev and Igor Stravinsky, featuring violin soloist Daishin Kashimoto, the first concertmaster of the Berliner Philharmoniker.
The tour starts at the National Chiang Kai Shek Cultural Centre in Taipei (8 and 9 November), after which the orchestra perform two dates at the Seoul Arts Centre (11 and 12 November). The Berliner Philharmoniker then appear in Nagoya in the Aichi Prefectural Arts Theatre (14 November), in the Festival Hall in Osaka (15 November) and in Kobe in the Hyogo Performing Arts Centre (16 November).
The tour concludes with two concerts in Suntory Hall in Tokyo (18 and 19 November) and a concert in Tokyo-Kawasaki in the Muza Symphony Hall (20 November).
The concert on 8 November in Taipei will be broadcast with a slight time delay on the Berliner Philharmoniker’s Digital Concert Hall and will be available here in Europe on 8 November at 11:30 GMT. See www.digitalconcerthall.com/en/.
