Christina Gansch makes her Royal Opera House debut as Papagena in ‘Die Zauberflöte’

Tuesday evening sees Christina Gansch make her Royal Opera House debut as Papagena in David McVicar’s classic production of Die Zauberflöte. This launches her 2017/18 season which will also include her Mélisande in a new production of Pelléas et Mélisande for the Glyndebourne Festival 2018; her Marzelline in a new production of Fidelio for the Hamburgische Staatsoper; and Servilia from La clemenza di Tito for the Opéra national de Paris, a role she has just performed to critical acclaim at this summer’s Salzburg Festival.

Rebecca Evans also appears in the Royal Opera’s production of Die Zauberflöte with the role of Erste Dame, before returning to the English National Opera to sing the title role in Rodelinda, and her role debut as Alice Ford in concert performances of Falstaff with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra under Vasily Petrenko.

Performances of the Royal Opera’s production of Die Zauberflöte will take place from 12 September to 14 October 2017. As part of the Royal Opera’s Live Cinema Season, the production will also be broadcast live in cinemas on 20 September. More information of Die Zauberflöte can be found here.
