We are pleased to announce that Daniel Harding has been named Artistic Director of the Anima Mundi Festival in Pisa, taking over from Sir John Eliot Gardiner, who held the position for 12 years. The 2018 edition was presented by Daniel, alongside the festival’s president Pierfrancesco Pacini, at a press conference in Pisa today.
The festival concerts are held in Pisa Cathedral, which was consecrated in September 1118. 900 years later, Daniel will celebrate the anniversary by conducting Bruckner’s sacred Symphony No. 5 with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra on tour on 15 September 2018.
