Harry Bicket: Chief Conductor of Santa Fe Opera

Bicket becomes Chief Conductor of Sante Fe

We are delighted to announce that Harry Bicket has been appointed Chief Conductor of Sante Fe Opera, effective from 1 October 2013. The British conductor travelled to New Mexico today on a break from performances of Giulio Cesare at the Metropolitan Opera for the press conference.
General Director Charles Mackay commented “The entire Santa Fe Opera family is thrilled to have you join the Company and welcomes you to Santa Fe” adding “Harry is one of the most important and sought-after conductors working today, and brings a wealth of experience… He is in demand by opera companies, symphony orchestras and chamber music venues; his ability to commit to the responsibilities of Chief Conductor is a coup for the Company.”
Harry is also Artistic Director of The English Concert, one of the UK’s finest period orchestras, which he will continue to lead alongside his new commitments in the USA.
Harry conducts further performances of Giulio Cesare in New York with Natalie Dessay and David Daniels for the next two weeks before travelling to Barcelona for Lucia Silla at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. He will return to the Sante Fe podium in the summer of 2014 for Beethoven’s Fidelio
Bravo Harry!
