Nathalie Stutzmann, Associate Artist with the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra

Nathalie Stutzmann will be the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra‘s first Associate Artist from September 2016. The announcement followed a number of highly successful appearances with the orchestra, both as a contralto and as a conductor, most notably during her time as Artist in Residence in 2013.

The 3-year collaboration will have an emphasis on conducting projects, but it will be multi-dimensional, with other aspects including singing, chamber music and master classes. Ms Stutzmann will inaugurate her tenure in São Paulo in September 2016, with a two-week stint, during which she will conduct two contrasting projects: a programme focusing on Mozart’s Mass in C minor and a programme built around Bizet’s Symphony in C.

Nathalie Stutzmann currently holds positions of Associate Artist with the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris for the 15/16 season, and Artist-in-Residence at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra for the 15/16 season, where in March she conducts a traditional work for Eastertide – Bach’s ‘St Matthew Passion’.

In December 2015 Ms Stutzmann made her US conducting debut with the Detroit Symphony and the National Symphony in Washington, to the high acclaim of audiences and critics alike. Forthcoming guest conducting engagements include débuts with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, Spanish National Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic, Konzerthaus Orchestra Berlin, RTE National Symphony of Ireland, Oslo Philharmonic and Orchestre National de Bordeaux, as well as return projects with Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, National Symphony Washington and Monte Carlo Opera (‘Tannhauser’).
