Cédric Tiberghien’s new disc of solo Liszt is released today on Hyperion Records. Focusing on Liszt’s late piano works, Cédric combines Années de pèlerinage, troisième année with smaller works including Bagatelle sans tonalité, Méphisto Waltz No. 4 and Lugubre gondola II.
Already receiving positive reviews, Gramophone magazine said of the disc: “Tiberghien is once again consummately subtle, and he misses no opportunity for virtuoso display where the opportunity arises – as in the Bagatelle sans tonalité and the fourth Mephisto Waltz. Generously filled and beautifully recorded…”
Cédric has been awarded four Diapason d’Or for his solo recordings on Hyperion. His most recent solo discs include works by Chopin, and a three-volume exploration of Bartók’s works for solo piano, which has received huge critical acclaim.
On the concert platform, Cédric’s debuts this season include the Berliner Philharmoniker, San Francisco Symphony (where he will play Liszt Piano Concerto No. 1), DSO Berlin and NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestras. His solo recitals include London, Chicago and Tokyo.
This recording can be bought from Hyperion, Amazon and iTunes. For more information, see the Hyperion website.
