New release – Joyce DiDonato ‘In War & Peace: Harmony Through Music’

Friday 4 November sees the release of Joyce DiDonato’s latest major recording – In War & Peace: Harmony Through Music. Described by Joyce as “perhaps my most personal project to date”, the disc is a collection of arias from Baroque operas accompanied by Il pomo d’oro under its principal conductor Maxim Emelyanychev.

In response to the terrorist attacks in Paris in November 2015, Joyce was motivated to change course with her plans for a disc of rare arias, and decided to explore the theme of war and peace through the music of Handel, Jommelli, Leo, Monteverdi and Purcell. The release is accompanied by a 20-city international tour (managed by Askonas Holt) that poses the question: In the midst of chaos, how do you find peace?
