Verdi | Otello - Cassio
[Translated] Uzbekistan-born singer Bekhzod Davronov makes a strong house debut in the role of Cassio. It was in this role that Jonas Kaufmann made his first appearances in Verdi's Otelo about 20 years ago. Let's see what will become of this not too big, but wonderfully elegant and expressive tenor in the higher registers. In any case, Davronov has what it takes to make a career.

Smaller roles were well cast and sung, the standouts being Szilvia Vörös' Emilia, Bekhzod Davronov’s Cassio and Leonardo Neiva’s Montano.

Davronov, an outstanding Rodolfo, is boyishly ardent, caught off balance by the depth of his own feelings throughout, and utterly heartbreaking at the end. This is a fantastic voice, too, not massive, but wonderfully elegant, and easy in its upper registers.

As Rodolfo, the Uzbekistan tenor Bekhzod Davronov impressed from his very first utterance… His tenor is sweet, relaxed, and has a lovely Italianate ping. It soars effortlessly. He acted here with consummate awareness and presence.
