Wagner - Das Rheingold
Staatsoper unter der LindenApr 2023Peter Rose, an experienced singer who for years has been the Baron Ochs of all the major Rosenkavalier productions, is here a clever and awkward mafia boss, with a voice that is still powerful... But as a superb actor, he slips perfectly into the desired character."

In the plethora of minor characters, all sung with remarkably enjoyable voices, I want to mention Peter Rose, who sang Swallow, the coroner, with a well-set, stentorian bass.

Strauss - Der Rosenkavalier
Dresden SemperoperMar 2023Peter Rose, another 2014 veteran, gave another highly accomplished performance as Ochs. He knows the role inside out and can play with it, the language in particular assimilated as if he were speaking it spontaneously, yet he takes nothing for granted. His boredom with the Italian singer, here in an utterly outstanding cameo by none other than Pavol Breslik, was as much a joy to watch as last time. Casting was throughout from depth, everyone contributing something

Peter Rose portrayed the Ochs von Lerchenau as a down-at-heel, self-deprecating Falstaff with unrestrained vitality and a magnificent bass voice.

Teatro Comunale di BolognaJan 2023Excellent Peter Rose , a vocally impeccable Daland for softness and ductility. He scenically reveals the total identification with the character and the ability to make the behavior of this "sui generis" father seem almost natural in choosing a groom for his daughter. The phrasing is accurate and detailed, pervaded by delicate irony.

We want to give an honorable mention to Daland of the first cast, Peter Rose, who, as an Ochs expert doses the mimicry, the gesture, the accent with a human bonhomie at times comical but never caricatured. After all, the bourgeois entrepreneur dad who rashly chooses a very rich and mysterious husband for his adored little daughter, taking care however to have her consent, is in himself a character who could fit perfectly in a comic opera - he is memorable without overplaying his hand.

Peter Rose 's Daland is too sympathetic scenically, but is vocally much more appropriate.

Wotan-Wanderer watches from the gallery as a tied up Fafner (Peter Rose) is brought in, who soon has to compete with Siegfried in a kind of gladiator fight. The plot consists only of experiments in a clinical atmosphere. Despite the uninspiring pictures, Schager and Rose are able to move with their parting words.

Grange ParkJul 2022Luxury casting brought Peter Rose as her father Daland, almost jokey in his complicity with the Dutchman, Carolyn Dobbin in a fine cameo as Senta’s nurse Mary, and the eloquent Elgan Llyr Thomas as the Steersman who makes the best of it without having much of a ship to steer.

Berg - Wozzeck
Gran Teatre del LiceuMay 2022Peter Rose sings the role with ample vocal means and with cynical and dark undertones. He gives Wozzeck money in exchange for the experiments, but also shows him very clearly how inferior he finds Wozzeck, especially when he has seen him peeing wildly on the street, 'like a dog'.
